The rankings are out and the Big 10 is making a strong showing again this season. It is my belief that year after year it is one of the toughest conferences in the nation. Congratulations to my Iowa Hawkeyes and coach Kirk Ferentz for coming in at 16.

---> The Iowa vs Ohio State game is listed as a top 25 game to watch this season. The Buckeyes better comem to Iowa City ready to play.
---> Senior kicker Kyle Schlicher has been selected to the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Watch List for the 2006 season. Former Hawkeye Nate Kaeding was the recipient of the Groza award in 2002.
---> Another Hawkeye to watch this year is a native from my hometown Burlington, IA, Mitch King. With an impressive list of 2005 honors, preseason 2006 isn't looking too bad for him:
2006 Honors - - Named pre-season first team all-Big Ten by Lindy's . . . pre-season second team all-Big Ten by Athlon Sports . . . 2006 - - listed as first team defensive tackle following spring practice.
