Pierce focus of police probe

Officials say the Hawkeye guard might face several charges, including assault with intent to commit sexual abusePierre Pierce could face a charge of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse for an alleged encounter with his girlfriend at her West Des Moines townhouse, police said on Tuesday while confirming their investigation is focusing on the Hawkeye basketball star.Investigators are also considering charging the UI junior with first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, and false imprisonment in addition to the attempted sexual-assault charge, which was erroneously listed as assault with intent to commit injury. In a statement released Tuesday, police said they plan to interview the 21-year-old UI junior "in the near future," but offered few other details.
